Therapy Intensives
When You Want the Issue That’s Been Plaguing You Resolved Yesterday
Does this sound familiar? You’re in your weekly individual or couples therapy session and it feels like you’re just getting into the issue when the time runs out. Frustrated, you emerge from the session feeling like nothing’s changed and you’re not looking forward to having to restart the conversation again in a week.
With intensive short-term psychotherapy, you can take a deep dive into the issue at hand without the interruption of weekly breaks. You get to stay in the flow of the therapeutic process, following insights and retaining skills that lead to lasting change. An intensive can provide immediate support to navigate challenges effectively.
Faster Progress, Accelerated Healing
Therapy intensives would be a good fit if:
You have a busy schedule or do frequent travel that doesn’t allow for weekly therapy sessions
You’ve been grappling with the same issue for a long time and it doesn’t seem to be improving
You’ve hit a plateau in your weekly therapy sessions
You’re going through a major life event, such as grief, a new baby, divorce, or a career change
You’re looking for rapid personal growth
Therapy intensives would not be a good fit if:
You have complex trauma or multiple traumatic experiences that need to be addressed
You and your partner do not have the same goals for what you’d like to address in therapy
You’re looking for a long-term approach to address multiple areas of concern
EMDR Therapy Intensives for Individuals
Your past trauma is getting in the way of better relationships and a fulfilling life
Is there a particular issue or event that seems to follow you everywhere you go? You may have recently experienced something that disrupted your sense of safety. Maybe you or your partner recently experienced pregnancy loss or had a baby and there were unexpected, scary parts of the experience. Perhaps there are events from your past that keep popping up in your present even though you’ve “done the work.” You may feel easily triggered by seemingly harmless situations or noticing the same relationship patterns repeating themselves. Maybe you’re feeling stuck, frozen, frustrated, helpless, or trapped.
Whatever it is, you’re ready to get to the root of the issue, once and for all. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing; it helps to process distressing memories or events that are “stuck” in your brain, allowing for the brain’s natural healing ability to resume. It’s a structured therapy protocol where you’ll focus on a traumatic memory while simultaneously engaging in bilateral stimulation, such as eye movement or tapping. You do not have to go into the details about your traumatic memories, and get to experience relief in a short period of time.
Couples Therapy Intensives for Relationship Issues
You don’t know how to move forward with the way things are now
It’s hard enough to manage your own challenges, attachment style, and mental health without also adding another person with their particular personality, traumas, and attachment style into the mix. Maybe you’re growing your family and want to strengthen your relationship before the big transition ahead. Perhaps you’re navigating the aftermath of an affair or betrayal, and can’t see the way forward. It may be that you’re going through a separation or divorce, and need to learn how to navigate this transition as successful co-parents.
Whether you’re overwhelmed parents wanting to build a stronger foundation, working through the aftermath of an affair, or disconnected partners unsure how to move forward, a couples therapy intensive can support you during this challenging time. Know that it’s possible to experience healing, insights, and growth fast.
How Therapy Intensives Work
-

I offer a free, 20 minute consultation for people exploring whether a therapy intensive is the right fit. In this call, I can answer any additional questions you may have about therapy intensives, you can get a sense of me and whether it feels like a relational fit, and if you’d like to move forward, we can schedule your intake session.
 -

Your intake session will identify your goals and create a plan to reach your desired outcome. The intake for individuals is 60 minutes at a rate of $250. The intake for couples is 90 minutes (30 minutes all together, then 30 minutes individually with each partner) at a rate of $350.
 -

We buckle down and do the work based on the number of sessions discussed in your intake. Intensives can take place online, in my Culver City office, or in my Pasadena office.
 -

Some people find that an integration session helps to review your progress, identify and address any continued challenges, and ensure you’re able to integrate the new insights in your daily life. This 50-minute session is available at a rate of $200.

You May Be Intrigued by Therapy Intensives, but Still Have Questions…

I understand that the idea of diving deep into emotions for hours or days at a time can feel exhausting or intimidating. Perhaps you have a fear of emotional burnout or re-traumatization.
Intensives with Well Parent Therapy are structured with breaks and coping strategies to prevent overwhelm. I tailor the pace to each person’s needs, balancing deep work with grounding techniques. My goal is for you to leave feeling more grounded and hopeful, not overwhelmed and depleted.

Intensives are available online for those living in CA, in my Culver City office, or in my Pasadena office. Some people like to make their therapy intensive into a weekend retreat, particularly for those outside of Los Angeles. I can provide recommendations for accommodations and local services if desired.
I understand that sometimes life gets in the way of our best intentions, especially for parents and those with demanding jobs. Since the scheduling of a therapy intensive involves setting aside time especially for you, a minimum of 72 hours notice is required for rescheduling or canceling your intensive. If you can reschedule your intensive within two months, your deposit will be applied to your rescheduled intensive. If you cancel with less than 72 hours notice, I will keep your deposit.

While intensives may seem costly compared to weekly therapy rates, they often lead to faster progress, potentially reducing the total number of sessions needed in the long run. The cost reflects the nature of therapy intensives as a premium service that requires more work, energy, and time set aside just for you.
I hear you on the skepticism that deep healing takes time and can’t be rushed. While no therapy is an instant cure, intensives offer deep work that might otherwise take months or years to accomplish in weekly therapy. While there are no guarantees, many people experience breakthroughs and gain valuable coping tools. Follow-up support in the form of an integration session is also available to help integrate what’s learned. Many people use intensives as a catalyst for lasting change.
